Halloween

This year’s theme was Minecraft.  The kids have been playing this computer game since the first of the year.  Every day they hover over the computer with their friends.  After an hour or so of peace and quiet for me, I realize that all the kids in the neighborhood are glued to our computer screen and I have to boot them all outside.  Slowly the ease themselves back in front of a computer screen somewhere in the neighborhood and play again.  I have to admit, I don’t really understand the game.  It has to do with the boxy pixelated creatures moving through different worlds.

Everyone’s idea of the perfect minecraft creature is different.  Genny wanted to be one of those boxy green “Creepers” but she also wanted a full, poofy princess skirt, so here is her compromise.

Roy is a minecraft guy with diamond blue armor.  We must have used 5 lbs. of tape to put together boxes, wrap them with blue paper and seal the edges with clear packing tape.  The weapons were printed out on 4 sheets of paper which we taped together like a puzzle and then taped to cardboard.

Marie liked the combination of a Creeper box head and a little ruffle skirt.  Apparently, Creepers also carry around TNT, so the candy box fulfills this requirement.

Our Wednesday park friends always have a costume parade and a little party at the park.  It was nice to see some kids are happy being good old fashioned mermaids like Elena and Monica.

The evening finished off at the Gough’s house in Naples.  Naples in Long Beach, is a trick or treating Hot Spot.  The kids had fun walking along the canals collecting candy and then ending up with their pal PJ to pass out candy on his front porch.  The hit of the party was at cleanup time when Patrick disposed of the left over dry ice in the kitchen sink and then ran water over it.  The whole sink area filled with fog and the kids had a blast blowing it all around.
