First rainy day

Before it rained we managed to go for a walk and look for turtles in the local drainage ditch.  There is water everywhere.  Roy’s theory is that they dig ponds around here to store the water that collects regularly.  Then we got our school work done and headed off on the day’s adventures.  Roy and I had the tires rotated while mom took the girls to thrift stores.  Afterwards we went to a really cool Congo River Golf.  This mini golf course had real alligators,  water falls, caves, bridges and some of the holes had steep greens.

It started to rain just as we left.  With dinner time quickly approaching we had to stop at a market for a few items.  Mom picked Sedano’s because of a few things she saw in the sale paper.  Unfortunately the sale starts tomorrow, but the hot deli was FANTASTIC.  I bought a combo with stewed beef steaks, Hispanic rice, and plantains and another with roast pork, beans and rice, and plantains.  I’m sorry I didn’t take a picture, we quickly set the table and scarfed it up. The two meals cost $9 all together and we still have a huge plate of leftovers.  Roy tried everything, Genny pretended to try everything, and Marie just ate the rice.  Luckily, Roy enjoyed it so much that he said we should try some other foods next time.
