Over the last 10 years I've decided the best way to know what God expects is to attend Bible Study. I have two favorites: http://www.communitybiblestudy.org/ has great programs especially for women and children together and lately I've been attending http://www.precept.org/ for a very in-depth study of the bible. Try a bible study to learn all about what's in God's book.Check this out

Observations on the Road
I searched and searched, but there just weren’t any simple activities for today’s road trip. So today was mostly filled with Highway observations.
Since we were traveling in Texas, we decided to look for BIG things, in this BIG state. Yesterday, half of us had a filling lunch and the other half had food with their ice cream, we never had a proper dinner. When we finally checked into our hotel room, which was quite BIG, someone mentioned food. I was tired so all they got was a BIG apple. Since they had a light dinner, all had a BIG appetite in the morning, perfect for a BIG breakfast.
Heading down the road, we saw one of those Texas Longhorn bulls with the BIG horns behind a fence along the highway. It was just standing there counting cars or something. Then we also noticed that sometime the evening before the terrain had changed from desert to grass. The view along the roads looks a little like Pennsylvania. Throughout the day we saw the grass get greener and the trees get BIGGER. Texas’ flag is easy to spot with one BIG white stripe over a BIG red one, next to a BIG blue field and one BIG white star. Lets talk about BIG cities here. After hours and hours of rural towns and truck stops Dallas and Fort Worth were more than BIG, they were HUGE. Just about when one city seemed to end the next started. The buildings were beautiful and I was really glad we were on the freeway at noon instead of 5pm because I bet the traffic is pretty BIG too.
Another BIG help was the BIG savings on gas. Wow, $3.09 per gallon. Ok, enough of the BIG stuff.
Prior to its introduction, drugs were either injected into the penis, or inserted into the tip prices viagra generic http://cute-n-tiny.com/tag/tsunami/ of penis. order viagra online But these should be used in severe cases when recovery of the disease is more in United States. Roy has been riding up front on this trip. The kids in the back don’t really see much out the windows, Roy got to play “Name That Road Kill” since he’s been riding up front. Some of the road kill we saw include several deer, coyotes, raccoons, skunks, large rodent type things, a pig, and several unidentifiable piles of fir. We saw highway patrol everywhere, they had those flat brimmed hats and sports cars. They reminded me of Smokey and the Bandit or something. Places like Texarkana, and Winslow Arizona on the road signs remind me of songs.
We’ve also been enjoying the snacks everyone gave us. Roy received a great bag of snacks from his CBS bible study class, our neighbor Bev gave them goody bags, Beth and Jim gave me a yummy 4 pack of single serving wine bottles, and of course there was Halloween candy to sustain us between stops. Thanks everyone.
We’re in Natchitoches, Louisiana tonight. We went to the grocery store to pick up microwavable dinner items, on the way in, the blood mobile flagged us down. I just had to donate because it was cool in their RV.
Today we listened to The Miraculous Journey of Edward Toulane, and Tom Sawyer. Wow am I glad I’m listening to Tom Sawyer and not reading it. I have a real hard time reading slang and dialect words.
Rainy day
Today we took the jib to the sail loft for repairs. The customs broker is working on the paperwork to free our crates from customs. We completed the design for the solar panel mount, we are waiting to talk to the stainless expert. We trouble shot the starboard starter battery, and determined that the port forward speaker wire had corroded at the connector. A typical boat repair day.
At the end of the day we went down to the beach to soak, it started pouring rain, but it was nice and cool.

Getting our kicks on Route 66
Wow, today was a great travel day, and we saw some interesting things. This is our 3rd night and I think we’re half way across the country.
We’re enjoying relaxing mornings in the hotel room. We don’t really sleep in, but sleeping until 7:30 and getting on the road at 10 am makes for a relaxing schedule. Our first stop was about 20 minutes down the road in the direction of Sandia Peak, New Mexico. Tinkertown museum! According to the pictures on the website, it looked like the museum was full of interesting bits of artwork. Unfortunately, I missed the part that says it’s only open April through October.
Well, now we’ll have more time to screw around somewhere else. Like at Truck Stops. Today I-40 was lined with billboards. A few hours east of Albuquerque I was thinking a cup of coffee might be a good idea and Clines Corners (exit 218) had irresistible billboards that drew me in. We bought some over priced coffee and slushys, then browsed the huge store filled with interesting trinkets. The kids had fun looking at and pointing out things, but never asked to buy anything. I was prepared to buy a magnet, but Genny said we didn’t need one. So I took a picture instead.
By exit 369 the coffee and slushys were getting to us and we needed another stop. Russell’s Truck and Travel center was sitting by the highway ready to take care of us. On the way to the restroom we saw a cherry red Jeep. Eric has brainwashed us all enough to spot it immediately.
It looked exactly like the little white one in the garage at the cabin, except since this one lives in a museum, it pretty much looked like a museum piece.
However, most of these products either do not work, or have extremely dangerous side effects that makes using tadalafil online no prescription them a bad idea. This truck stop had a full on museum in it. Check out the links for Cline’s Corners and Russell’s they have wonderful Rt 66 success stories.
Late in the afternoon we left New Mexico and crossed into Texas. In 1986 my mom and I drove from Florida to Oakland, CA. There I flew to Hawaii, my first duty station in the Navy, and shipped the car. All I could ever remember about Texas is that the sun rose and set twice before we were finished driving through the state. In 1986 we took I-10. I thought that this northern route would take us through a smaller part of the state. Looking at the map, scooting along the southern edge of Oklahoma, is about the same distance as straight across the 10.
Just before Amarillo, TX, there is this cool Cadillac Ranch. Wikipedia has all kinds of interesting facts about this art project. For us, it felt good to stretch out legs for a bit and walk out through the field.
The kids didn’t have to think twice or ask what to do. When they saw the big pile of half empty spray paint cans, they went to work. Everyone out there was painting pictures and their names on the cars. There were no dirty words or rude symbols either.
I couldn’t even guess how thick the paint was on these cars, but Genny did point out the stalactites dripping off the undercarriage.
Even though the museum was closed, all of our stops were definitely worth our time and I’m glad we didn’t miss them. The last few hours of our drive, each motel we passed I wished was our stop, but we pressed on to Wichita Falls and by 10 pm we were stretched out on the beds. Today we listened to News for Dogs. It was a riveting story about entrepreneurial kids, responsibility of honesty in public statements, detective work, and loyalty.

It was cooler today, with more of a breeze. In the afternoon we go down to the water and soak to cool off.
Home away from home I-40
When planning this road trip, google maps directed me down interstate 10, but I felt more comfortable spending the first 2 days moving from our home in California to our home afloat on the more familiar I-40. Since sometime around 1994 we’ve been making yearly trips down I-40 then north out of Flagstaff to visit Beth’s cabin in Colorado. One year we went on a Thanksgiving road trip with the Hill family that took us along the 40 as well. Over the years we visited Meteor Crater in Arizona, cliff dwellings at Walnut Canyon, Wigwam Motel in Holbrook, Petrified Forest NP, Canyon De Chelly cliff dwellings. We also had a memorable Christmas last winter. Eric spent the month of December moving Azure II with Rodney Pimentel to Grenada where he bought the boat and it became Makai. The plan was to pick Eric up in Albuquerque on Dec 24 then continue to Colorado the next day. However, early in the day we found that his flight was delayed and wouldn’t arrive until the next day. So, the kids, Topaz and I spent Christmas eve in Gallup, NM. When they complained I reminded them that they had running water and cable TV, Jesus spent his first night in a stable.
Luckily our road trip so far has been uneventful. We had been saying good-bye to our pals and packing the van all week. Thursday night poor Marie had the throwing up sickness and a fever and Roy was burdened with sinus issues from a cold. Friday was emotional and stressful. We sent Eric and Brian off at 4am with Beth to LAX, then after sleeping a few more hours did chores until Krista took us off to the movies. The last hour before we left everyone was running through the house stuffing things in the van they didn’t think they could live without. I don’t even know whats in the van at this point. Krista made us lunch and helped me gather up the last kid stuff out of the bottom of the closet to donate, my neighbor Bev took care of Topaz, Yvette drove by for a last hug, and then we just put it in gear and left. I felt like life had been frantic and we just had to cut loose.

We only went about 1/2 a mile down the road before I had to pull over and help Marie find her seat belt, it was buried under a mound of bags and blankets. Part of the tower had already fallen over onto Topaz and everyone had stuff piled on their laps. When things were straightened out we got on the road. The crazy traffic turned into a climb over Cajon opening up into the desert. We listened to Magic Tree House books on cd and then Roy was introduced to James Herriot the Country Vet, he was intrigued by the graphic descriptions .
By 10:30 pm we were in our beds in Kingman, AZ. The next morning I repacked all the loose debris in the van, we had breakfast and got back on the road. We listened to Brooklyn Bridge by Karen Hesse, audio books are great for road trips. Besides lunch at Sonic and Dinner at the Golden Corral, there wasn’t much excitement. We still can’t get the new TV system Eric installed last summer working, but soon we’ll have new views to entertain us. Starting tomorrow we’ll be driving in ‘new territory’. We’re in Albuquerque tonight. The hotel has a nice indoor pool and hot tub. Tomorrow we’ll stop at Tinkertown and the Cadillac ranch on the way to Wichita Falls, TX. Maybe I’ll get better pictures.

Cleaning the boat, settling in
We made it from the airport to the boat last night, the surfboards and all the bags were accounted for. This morning we did lots of cleaning and unpacking. We found 3 unwanted visitors who had been living in the edge of the well that contains the liferaft.

Today we leave
We’ve been burning the candle at both ends. This evening I’m trying to get the blog up to date so I can start fresh posting our travels. All of a sudden I looked and the clock says it’s 1am.
Yesterday was Eric’s first day off from work. While we were at classes, he took my Jeep up to the cabin to store it away and brought back Brian, his pal that’s going to Grenada with him today. Lots of last minute packing and prep went on, a hand full of good byes and now he’s done. Eric and Brian have a 6am flight out of LAX and will be sleeping on the boat in Grenada tonight.
The rest of us will head out in the afternoon for our road trip. We’re spending the next month driving to Florida, taking the van to New Jersey for storage, staying with my mom in Orlando, and then flying to Grenada December 4th.

Last Day
Here we are, after 12 years of planning and dreaming, tomorrow we leave.
We’re all very sad saying, not good-bye, but see you later to our friends. Adios was much easier in 1997 when Eric and I hopped aboard Makai with Teak and headed off for Mexico. The kids are fairly well traveled and flexible, but right now their friends are very important.

Roy’s CBS Bible Study class had a little going away party for him. They’re all great kids!
Halloween
This year’s theme was Minecraft. The kids have been playing this computer game since the first of the year. Every day they hover over the computer with their friends. After an hour or so of peace and quiet for me, I realize that all the kids in the neighborhood are glued to our computer screen and I have to boot them all outside. Slowly the ease themselves back in front of a computer screen somewhere in the neighborhood and play again. I have to admit, I don’t really understand the game. It has to do with the boxy pixelated creatures moving through different worlds.
Everyone’s idea of the perfect minecraft creature is different. Genny wanted to be one of those boxy green “Creepers” but she also wanted a full, poofy princess skirt, so here is her compromise.
Roy is a minecraft guy with diamond blue armor. We must have used 5 lbs. of tape to put together boxes, wrap them with blue paper and seal the edges with clear packing tape. The weapons were printed out on 4 sheets of paper which we taped together like a puzzle and then taped to cardboard.
Marie liked the combination of a Creeper box head and a little ruffle skirt. Apparently, Creepers also carry around TNT, so the candy box fulfills this requirement.

The evening finished off at the Gough’s house in Naples. Naples in Long Beach, is a trick or treating Hot Spot. The kids had fun walking along the canals collecting candy and then ending up with their pal PJ to pass out candy on his front porch. The hit of the party was at cleanup time when Patrick disposed of the left over dry ice in the kitchen sink and then ran water over it. The whole sink area filled with fog and the kids had a blast blowing it all around.
1st Class Boy Scout
One of the goals before we leave was for Roy to complete First Class Boy Scout. This rank can usually be attained in about one year. Roy only had 6 months to do it in. This October, right after completing SCUBA certification classes, he started a schedule to have requirements checked off. Each week we would make up a worksheet of 10 requirements. He had to complete the required reading, collect the supplies and then find a fellow Scout ranking 1st class or higher to demonstrate the requirements to. Roy also volunteered at Bolsa Chica Wetlands and attended a Drug, Alcohol and Tobacco awareness discussion at the police station. After all this he still needed to perform meal planning and cooking on a Scout camping weekend which he did last weekend. Since we were pressed for time, Scout Master Hill and his son Spencer had an informal ceremony after dinner on Monday night. We love the Hill family, they are one of our oldest friends. Greg and Eric work together now, but it goes back about 17 years. Greg and Saundy are also Roy’s God Parents!
The camping trip that Roy completed his last few requirements, Scout Master conference and board of review, was a fishing trip. Roy’s favorite activity, along with computer games and goofing off with friends, is fishing. To get ready, he took me to Walmart where he selected 1/2 a dozen supplies, then came home to assemble his pole and fishing rig. Roy explained every step to me and how it worked just like a pro.
